Bizarre interpretation of the HG Wells "Island of Dr. Moreau" but with extremely crazy creatures!
Curated by Daniel Menche
Total Runtime: 1:20:32
"Animal desires... Human lust! Test Tube terrors... Half beast... all monster!"
Another seventies trash classic from the creators of 'Beyond Atlantis' and 'Beast of the Yellow Night'
Former teen idol John Ashley stars as Matt Farrell, a deep-sea diver kidnapped by a crazy doctor with plans to turn him into a Superbeast. The doctor has created a managerie of animal-human hybrids for a purpose that remains unclear. So far, he has mutated human subjects with wolves, bats, panthers, gorillas and an antelope (?!). The doc has a naive, beautiful daughter unfamiliar with the outside world and all-too-ready to be seduced into siding with the rugged interloper. Complicating the situation, the tropical island's security force is closely controlled by a repressed homosexual Nazi with an unhealthy interest in the new prisoner. He challenges Farrell to escape the island and mid-film the plot switches from 'Island of Dr Moreau' to 'Most Dangerous Game'. In an early role, a be-fanged Pam Grier growls and rocks a torn mini-dress as Ayesha, the Panther Woman, in a line-less role. Directed by Philippines' drive-in stalwart Eddie Romero and featuring a funky action soundtrack of fuzz guitar and bass.
