I get a boner for Eighties Christian propaganda. Being an atheist, there is truly nothing funnier than this. I collect all sorts of documentaries meant to spread the word of the bible, condemning everything from D&D and rock n’ roll. But when it comes to the stupidest, and silliest, this one hits the mother-load. It’s basically about Phil Phillips, a man who in the eighties spread the message about the satanic imagery of Saturday morning cartoons, all in the guise of a shot-on-video public access show. You watch in amazement as your favorite childhood characters, from He-Man, She-Ra, Transformers, GI Joe, and the Thundercats are called Satanic. Hell, even the Smurfs, Care Bears and My Little Pony are placed in the accusations, calling them ‘evil tools of homosexuality’. Although if you did love My Little Pony you were probably gay, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that.
Minions of Satan?
My jaw was wide open while watching all of this. I was shocked at how seriously these two dudes would take these cartoons, making it all basically to be satanic. Then there’s the fact that it’s a very discriminatory Christian stance. Buddhism, Hinduism, and even the martial arts as tools of Satanism. Of course, Phil Phillips was the kind of one-trick-pony who released a book about all of this, then disappeared into oblivion, but he’ll always be remembered more for this video and it’s ridiculous accusations. By the 90’s nobody bought this shit anymore, and with good reason. Now I’m gonna go watch my Thundercats DVD’s, because I worship the devil and it’s just a part of the worship. Hail Satan!
