Derek James Allen = DJA
Louisville native Derek Allen started making beats as a teenager, eventually relocating to Philadelphia where he began working with Diplo and Mad Decent as a producer and engineer. As part of the Mad Decent crew and one of Diplo's co-producers, he worked on MIA's albums Kala and MAYA, Robyn’s Body Talk, and Major Lazer’s Guns Don’t Kill People, Lazers Do, as well remixing Amanda Blank, Black Gold, of Montreal, 3OH!3, and countless others.
Allen is a highly sought after writer and producer whose recent work ranges from commercials to his own viral mixtapes. His Blood Bros mixtapes (in conjunction with producer Dirty South Joe) currently have over 40k streams and have been downloaded over 20k times. He also co-wrote Major Lazer's "Lazer Theme" with Diplo and "Come On" with Diplo and Tiesto. He has a wide range of talents as a producer; his recent production work ranging from indie rockers Mates of State to French rapper Charly Greane. Derek has also contributed to high profile commercial work including co-producing two songs for DJ Hero 2, original music for Forum Snowboards, NBA 2k9, Turkcell, and GM Hummer among others.
