Thomas Azier, born 23 summers ago in the Netherlands, has built up quite a track record, despite his youth. Living in Berlin for the last four years he works mainly as a songwriter, most recently on the number 1 album on German Itunes, XOXO by Casper.. His own album is about to be released in 2012 and here he presents the songs that made him the musician he is.
GD + TOP - KNOCKOUT
The music scene in Korea is flourishing. As a songwriter i'm interested in new forms of popmusic. I get inspired by their weird ways of combining european popmusic with their own. Mainstream popmusic of Korea sounds exciting and fresh, the video's look amazing, and also the live shows are quite awesome. If you want more, check out more artists from S&M entertainment...
3 STEPS AHEAD - PLAY THAT SHIT
What can I say, 3 steps ahead, dutch glory. Peter-Paul Pigmans was famous for his excentric live act, weird suits and effects. One of my favorite things to do online is watching thunderdome footage. Such an interesting movement. Some friends of mine have it on VHS.. that's the best!
ALICE IN CHAINS - UNPLUGGED OUTTAKES
Heavy performance from Alice in Chains. The atmosphere of the whole show is magic for me, so dark. One of the last performances of the band. The drug use of singer Layne Staley was out of control...
ECHO AND THE BUNNYMEN - NOCTURNAL ME
Echo and the Bunnymen. The neo-romantic style appeals to me. After seeing Donnie Darko when I was a bit younger, I listened for months only to their album Ocean Rain.
CHRIS ISAAK - WICKED GAME
Best song EVER! In the music video, almost naked on a beach with a model. In this performance with a pink suit on letterman in 1991. So bittersweet.
KATE BUSH with DAVE GILMOUR - RUNNING UP THAT HILL
Kate Bush is one of my biggest inspirations, amazing songwriter, producer, innovator. This live performance captures the distinguished sound of the 80ies.
VANGELIS - CHARIOTS OF FIRE
The epicness of this Vangelis! So corny, but so good.
KOUDLAM & CYPRIEN GAILLARD
Collaboration of french conceptual artist Cryprien Gaillard and a musician called Koudlam. The footage of Sovjet buildings being blown up (shot by Gaillard himself) a nd a hooligan fight together with the music from Koudlam works very alienating for me. For me it feels like a play between despair and maybe a bit of hope, it inspires me...
JENAMU6 - FENIX II & III TESTRIDE
I'm attracted to nerds online who share video's of themselves testing synthesizers. Some of them are really bad quality and you only hear noise but still I watch it for hours and get inspired by the noises..
