A Virgin Among the Living Dead is a 1971 French horror film made before the height of the first zombie craze.
It was only released in France in 1973 as "Christina, Princess of Eroticism" / "Christina, princesse de l'érotisme", or "The Erotic Dreams of Christine". Jess Franco has said that the original shooting title of the film was "The Night of the Shooting Stars" / "La nuit des étoiles foilantes".
Producer Marius Lesoeur later had horror director Jean Rollin direct some newly filmed zombie footage in 1981 that was added to Franco's film for its 1981 re-release. Franco purists insisted that "Virgin" be released in its former unadulterated form on DVD (with the Rollin footage removed from the actual film), feeling that the added Jean Rollin footage (which was totally unrelated to the original plotline) greatly slowed down the pace of the film.
