The Live Music Show - Curated by Minotaur Shock
The Live Music Show Is A Network Awesome Original Production
Here's a selection of musicians I've seen and loved, and musicians I wished I'd have seen 'cos I love. Starting with the first gig I went to (well, when they played at Bath Pavillion in 1992):
1. Lush "Sweetness and Light" Pint of cider in my underage hand, gazing awestruck.
2. Prefab Sprout "Goodbye Lucille #1" There has never been a better songwriter wearing a vest like that.
3. Art of Noise "Opus 4/Paranoimia" I always wondered what they did live. They did this.
4. Kevin Ayers "May I" Love this version.
5. Dusty Springfield "Brand New Me" Prefer this album to Dusty in Memphis. Sssshhhh
6. Swervedriver "Sci-Flyer" Not much available from the early 90s, but they still sound fine in the '09
7. Gentle Giant "Proclamation" Unspeakably funky even before the greatest drummer kicks in with his greatest drummer face and mouth.
8. Thomas Dolby "Hyperactive" Deep Heat for the feet. I could watch this for 3 hours.
9. Ennio Morricone "Maddalena" Serious stuff. Kinda miss the super fresh brushed drums, but so good. Gets into a right groove. Gutted I missed this.
10. Janet Jackson "Rhythm Nation" Love hearing them Flyte Tyme drum fills and stabs played live.
11. Gorky's Zygotic Mynci "Patio Song" Lovely.
12. Mike Oldfield "Tubular Bells" (Part 1) Heh.
13. Japan "Swing/My New Career" Bonus track - amazing quality clip. Breathtaking stuff.
